Oregon K-12 Partnership Projects - Comments http://k12partners.org Comments en KIDS for the Future http://k12partners.org/about/kids#comment-257
In researching the KIDS project for an upcoming interview, I have been impressed with the level of planning and focus on the goals and objectives of the project. Working as a web coder where the technology environment appears to be siloed and opaque, it is refreshing to see a project that seems to be making the process accessible and transparent, with an emphasis towards collaboration and usability by a wide demographic of end users.

I hope to talk to you all soon about being a part of this project.

David Mohrman

"The true meaning of life
is to plant trees,
under whose shade
you do not expect to sit"
~ Nelson Henderson
Tue, 12 Aug 2008 16:00:17 +0000 David Mohrman comment 257 at http://k12partners.org ghhmlegv http://k12partners.org/node/25#comment-255 fjldkdyr Thu, 06 Mar 2008 15:20:47 +0000 Alexander10 comment 255 at http://k12partners.org Media Streaming RFP http://k12partners.org/node/144#comment-254
OVSD has a big interest in lowering the cost of streaming resources for schools and we look forward to participating.

Great work Paul!

Steve Nelson
Fri, 07 Dec 2007 16:47:48 +0000 snelson comment 254 at http://k12partners.org Knowledge Community? http://k12partners.org/node/142#comment-253
For further information: http://www.k12partners.org/node/135
Tue, 04 Dec 2007 15:08:35 +0000 greg.collver comment 253 at http://k12partners.org Attached Documents http://k12partners.org/node/128#comment-245
Hi Leslie,

It doesn't appear that you attached the smartboard training documents to your message. Could you post them again?

Thanks, Caryl
Mon, 23 Jul 2007 15:38:53 +0000 clkempfer comment 245 at http://k12partners.org Apparently no hardware is required to manage the AP http://k12partners.org/node/118#comment-235 Apparently no hardware is required to manage the Wireless Access Points. There IS hardware that helps with management and rollout of wireless systems, but it is not required for them to work the way we want them to. Thanks for the follow up. This option is very important to LESD. We'd like a decision or ruling on this in the next couple weeks. If this is option not available, we'd like an explanation of why, as well as a review of how account support will match service from agents. If I request a new BAN, my understanding is that my ESD would not be eligible for erate this year, true? My intention is to choose the BAN corresponding to the existing T1 (or other Qwest service) to the respective district, and enter it on that downstream district's Request Form. Do I have this right? In the breakout session she indicated that after 5 years they are just getting to the place where they have enough data to have some meaningful evaluation! She stressed that professional development must be sustained and embedded - regardless of what technology is being infused (SmartBoards, Document cameras, laptops, etc)

While I look forward to the end of school survey, I believe the 3+ months that our program will have been in place will not allow anyone to draw meaningful conclusions about it's effectivness. I would hope that the legislature and others observers have realistic expectations - that perhaps after 3 years of well planned implementation, sustained professional development, and a properly designed assessment methodology, we may be positioned to have a preliminary understanding of the effects of the program on student achievment.

Steve
Mon, 07 May 2007 22:01:33 +0000 StevePrull comment 221 at http://k12partners.org DQ - How does this relate to KIDS and SIS? http://k12partners.org/node/87#comment-213
I am interested in how the proposed DQ statewide program would relate to ODE's KIDS project and to the individual SIS systems in use across the state. Our district is currently considering a new SIS and we would like to be reasonably certain that we are on track with any future statewide program.

Is it correct that the DQ proposal is that the regional ESD's would become the data collection site for the districts (replacing ODE's consolidated data collection site) and that ODE would then collect the information they need (for KIDS) from the ESD data warehouses?
Wed, 31 Jan 2007 16:30:06 +0000 greg.collver comment 213 at http://k12partners.org Note also that you can set http://k12partners.org/node/72#comment-214
Note also that you can set the K12Partners site to e-mail you daily with any new content. With that in mind, I have been trying to build tools that are functional and easy to use. But (there's always a "but" in there), I'm not "you all" and I'm not an educator. So I can build things I think would work well for you.

What I need from everyone out there is feedback. Tell me what works. What doesn't work. What you like. What you dislike. These resources and tools are a first attept at giving you something useful. Tell us how useful it is and how if it could be made more useful.

We would like very much to provide a home for a forum like Greg describes. Who do you all think it should be done? How can we with the OVSD project help facilitate and foster the community?
Fri, 26 Jan 2007 22:02:30 +0000 Greg Lund-Chaix comment 212 at http://k12partners.org Principal's Survey http://k12partners.org/node/85#comment-211
Hi Paul,

I took the principal's survey yesterday and it seemed quite good to me. Thank you for setting the surveys up. All of the folks taking the same survey in their area is a good idea.

D.C.
