About the ODE/OAESD Partnership

The ODE/OAESD Partnership is a unique opportunity for changing and improving the delivery of services in Oregon's educational enterprise with the ambition of better results for students. This partnership is an attempt to move resources closer to the problem; to build regional capacity for school improvement through coordination of technology, administrative functions and special services.

As I finish my 5th reading of the grant documentation to make sure I am not missing something, I find that a paragraph on the second page sums things up for me:

"As you begin to review and assess your capacity to manage one of the three Pilots, keep in mind that this is merely a first step into a long term, reformation of K12 teaching and learning in your schools, districts, regions, and across the state. This year’s 6th grade will become next years 7th (and so on), which means thinking proactively about how to plan for more computers, more network capacity, more professional development, more support for instructional technology, etc., etc. This Pilot is about thinking ahead." Qwest Foundation Classroom Grants for Education

  Introduction 
The Qwest Foundation has allocated to the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and the Organization for Educational Technology and Curriculum (OETC) $50,000 through a Qwest Foundation for Education Grant to be awarded to Oregon K-12 educators who participate in their Regional Ed Tech Cadre and who demonstrate an innovative use of technology with students.  The funds will be disbursed to the local school.  Qwest Foundation funds may be used to purchase the following for use in the classroom:
  • supplies and materials
  • technology
  • professional development activities. 

 Any supplies and materials or capital objects purchased become property of the school should the teacher leave the school. Funds will be awarded November 22, 2006: The deadline for application is postmarked by November 15, 2006.

Draft OVSD OARS for Comment

Oregon Virtual School District OARS- Version 2 for Review 

State Board of Education reviews Draft rules on September 22, 2006.  Please post initial comments by September 19, 2006. Final Adoption will come before the Board for consideration in October.
