Knowledge Community By Value Chain

Since this piece was originally published it has been viewed over 700 times, but we have only received one opinion.  Role out of this application would cost the State money for hosting it at OSU.  The goal would be to offer it at no charge to Districts by creating a self funding branding strategy with Intel.  Is there any interest in this application?

Knowledge Chain is a simple shell Portal that allows for District, Schools ESD's etc to create Portlets. THE portlets allow for customized views for Teachers, students and Parents. The application is modular so applications can be ported into it. This starts to be fun when schools think about porting in limited data for Parents and teachers. Also, the Student login gives access to a very flexible and feature rich E-Portfolio; one that the school can customize for its students. Below are the logins if you would like to look at a version that is not customized, but has some Oregon information in it.

I think this could be a very handy web portal for many districts, especially smaller ones that do not have the in-house expertise to design their own.  How do we get this application?

I can't speak for ODE officially, but I believe negotiations are in progress for the procurement of the application. Stay tuned for more information.
