This Wall Street Joural article: Saying No to School Laptops was Slashdotted today. The article is an interesting read as are the responses on Slashdot which is a VERY tech friendly site. A successful 1:1 implementation would have to address many of these issues.

eRate Conference Information

From today through end of day Wednesday, August 30th, you all may log any questions you have regarding the Pilot and the Grant Application process on this blog.

You will need to take one minute to register, and then you may enter as many questions as you like. Steve, Intel, and I will be monitoring all questions and preparing a Q&A that will be immediately posted on this blog. Next Thursday, August 31, we will review all the questions, and be sure they have all been answered to the best of our abilities. You should stay tuned to this site, and review the Q&A to be sure you have been answered satisfactorily.

ODE Procurement decided to change the RFP to grant application for ease of processing. This will not effect what you all need to do, and it does not change deadlines as laid out throughout the final documents.

The Grant Application was sent directly from ODE to ESD Superintendents this morning, and I have forwarded it on to ESD IT directors as well. It is also posted here if you need it.

I hope these end up offering you all some useful information as you go through the RFP process. I will continue to update this post with new reference material over the next few weeks.
