Questions from Portland Public Schools
Submitted by snelson on Tue, 09/05/2006 - 9:31am.Question: We are intending to submit a proposal for the Laptop Pilot, but have couple of questions in order to finalize our submission. On page 5 of the RFP you have element referring to Sustainability. Is the expectation that the pilot site would have to commit to funding the entire technology and Professional Development requirement for year 2?
Answer: The documentation that was sent shows our resources in total. We included in the ODE Budget request information for $2.5m for 07-09 for expansion and continued support funds to the original pilot sites. We are beginning to develop a corporate support program for contributions that might engage other companies besides Intel. So, there are efforts underway for continuation funding. To be fair I would submit that there are no guarantees on the legislative request, however, we are in good shape for an authorization because there is so much interest in this and I believe the Districts will be successful.
Question: It is also our understanding that the ESD that serves our district
(MESD) will be the submitting entity for this proposal.
Answer: The ESD must submit the Grant Application.
The date for the Oregon's 1:1 Computing Pilot Grant Application has been extended to Wednesday, September 20, 2006.
